Some of my friends are always trying to give me advice on how to pick up women. Honestly, I don’t see it as “picking up women,” I see it as meeting new people who I may or may not be attracted to.
First of all, you don’t hear women referring to their dating experience as “picking up men,” so already that statement is a little sexist. Second, I don’t think I need much help anymore.
I just randomly started talking to a girl on POF last night after several weeks of sporadic back and forth messages that didn’t really amount to anything. Within a few hours, we were already talking about our favorite sexual positions and discussing our sex lives.
So yeah….I mean, I’m not saying I don’t appreciate the help and advice of SOME of my friends (you know who you are), but from others who keep telling me “oh, you just need to open up, here’s what you need to do, you aren’t doing it right”…..yeah, I think I’m doing alright in that department. I’m not even TRYING to get involved in a relationship right now and I’m still capable of getting people interested in talking to me about that kind of personal, private stuff.
So yeah…DALLIN…just shut the hell up, damnit. I swear the next time he tries to tell me what I’m doing wrong, I’m just going to explode. Not that he did tonight or anything, but I still don’t appreciate it when people treat me like some kind of freakin’ idiot who is incapable of finding someone.
My problem before was that I lacked confidence and didn’t understand certain things. I don’t lack that confidence anymore and I’m much more open and understanding. I don’t need that kind of “help” from my friends.
“What are you doing?”
“My arm is twitching. I’m watching it.”
“Why are you just sitting there watching your arm?”
“Because I’m fascinated by things that are beyond my control.”

Oh, Reddit. You always know exactly what to say.
This is a subject I feel very passionately about, so when I saw yet another article giving educators a pass and blaming parents for everything posted on /r/education, I absolutely had to speak up. I’ve spoken up before, but never quite to this effect. I have to say, it felt quite good to finish this off the way I did. I have no way of knowing right now whether or not the discussion will continue, but suffice it to say that I promise this will be a good read.
Before reading, please check out the original Huffington Post article which is being referenced. Names have been blocked out to…well…protect the innocent. Heh.
It all started off innocently enough. I was having a legitimate discussion with some educators (or at least they have claimed to be so) about the issue. They offered points, I offered counter-points — fair enough.
Then this guy comes in and tries to turn it all around on me. We’ve gotten into debates on /r/education before. He is an educator who is very anti-reform. He also doesn’t apparently know the difference between physiology and psychology, but that’s another topic of discussion for another time. All you need to know is that he’s gotten on my case before, going so far as to say “I feel sorry for you” when he was left otherwise speechless.
Needless to say, his decision to come into this discussion was a mistake. A BIG MISTAKE. He down-voted all of my comments and proceeded to try turning things around on me, assuming that I was somehow being hypocritical.
Well…enjoy the next bit, folks. If he was too cowardly to respond to me last time with anything but “I feel sorry for you,” I can’t imagine what he’s going to say after this. :)
This reminds me of Miah.
Ten chambers of the “Baby Mummy’s Curse” game are ready for beta testing and I would love to get some feedback from you.
Well, it’s far from being finished - still a lot of improvements, levels and polishing to do, but the current beta version is fully functional and hopefully fun to play.
You can play it online here (Flash required):
Classic single player action platformer with retro graphics and chiptunes.
This game is dedicated to old school gamers.
PRESS ARROW KEYS TO WALK, CLIMB, DUCK AND SLIDE (DOWN + RIGHT/LEFT).
PRESS X TO JUMP.
PRESS M TO MUTE MUSIC.
PRESS R TO RESTART LEVEL AND RECHARGE LIVES.
PRESS ESC TO RETURN TO THE MAIN MENU.
Object of play:
Collect the key to unlock next chamber’s entrance.
Collect all gems to get live (3 max. yet).
Avoid bats, scorpions, falcons and all other scary things.
Sorry, your player is pacifist and vegetarian - he refuses to use weapons!
All chambers are unlocked by default. (Only for beta/testing reasons … The chambers will be locked in the final version)
The Training Room is not open yet.
I know that those bats are annoying - I will try to make a better, more predictable movement for them in future updates.
I am interested in following aspects especially:
- Player control (What about player’s physics? Too sluggish/stiff or OK?)
- Gameplay (What about the level design so far? Too difficult/easy?)
- What is good - what is bad in your opinion?
Thank you in advance & cheers!
